X. Zombie Writer

X. Zombie Writer called himself Zombie Writer

because he considered an initial in front of

a middle name an affectation, like L. Ron Hubbard.

X for a last name was okay, like Malcolm X.

If you said Martin people knew you meant

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

If you said Marlon they knew you meant

Marlon Brando.  Jack could be anybody—

Jack Kerouac—but Cracker Jack was fairly specific.

Dick Gregory called a book Nigger.

I call Stack Cracker.

Cracker is pejorative.

I’m a cracker.

It don’t make me

a bad person.
